The People’s Choice

Hilton Head Island on the coast of South Carolina is just twelve miles long and five miles wide. It’s mainly a beach resort, but last weekend more than 400 automobiles and numerous visitors made their way to this lovely island to participate in the yearly Hilton Head Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival. Now in its sixth year this event gets stronger every time. Saturday saw an auction by The World Wide Group. One of the top sellers was a 1938 V-16 Cadillac that sold for $286,000 and we loved this 1909 Peerless barnfind. “Best of Show” in Sunday’s Concours d’Elegance was awarded to Peter Boyle of Pennsylvania for his 1928 Isotta Fraschini TIPO 8A55 Boattail Speedster, one of two boattails ever built by LeBaron. The “People’s Choice” award went to this beautiful 1936 Stout Scarab, one of only five still in existence that is owned by Tim Lingerfelt. We can only wholeheartedly agree with this choice. (RB)
