The Louwman Collection is the home of one of the finest collections of historic motor cars in the world (especially the pre 1900 collection is unique). The Museum is developing plans to move the museum from Raamsdonksveer to a new location in The Hague, Netherlands, near ’Huis ten Bosch’ (KoninklijkHuis.nl), the residence of Queen Beatrix. Despite the full consent of local authorities -in typical Dutch fashion- no less than nine (!) different protest groups met last week to discuss how to oppose the plans. Their objections range from environmental reasons and bird watching, to local groups who fear their quality of life will be affected by the new arrival. Not deterred, the Louwman Collection is planning to open the new museum, which will be another architectural masterpiece by Michael Graves, in 2006.
