Tijd voor last-minute kerstinkopen?
Ook al hebben we een lijstje gemaakt en dit twee keer gecontroleerd, toch is het makkelijk om dingen te vergeten in de aanloop naar Kerstmis. Heb je eind november al kerstpudding gemaakt (als je daarvan houdt)? Vergeet je niet de kerststol te kopen? Iemand een ontbijt voor tweede kerstdag?
Wat is Kerstmis zonder tradities? Een van onze favoriete tradities hier bij PreWarCar.com is jullie, onze lezers, vragen om voertuigen, mensen en plaatsen te identificeren... omdat we de antwoorden zelf niet weten. Dus volgens traditie hebben we vandaag twee vragen voor jullie. Ten eerste, herkent iemand de locatie van de foto? Ja, het is een stad in de VS in een bijzonder koude winter van 1930, maar welke?
Ten tweede, laten we eens kijken naar de auto's die over straat glijden of nonchalant in de sneeuw op weg zijn naar dat last-minute cadeautje voor tante Edith of oom Albert. Iets ongewoons hier?

The panel truck slipping and sliding is a 1931-1932 Chevrolet. The clue is the large crank hole cover. Note the rear corner irons to keep the body from spreading. These are a classic design carried over from the horse-drawn era. The pickup truck is a mid 1930-mid 1931 Ford Model A. Pulling out of the side street is a 1934 Dodge sedan.

Is there more history about the buildings in the background? Apart from being a dedicated "petrolhead", I'm also into the history and the architecture of buildings of previous eras. Please keep up this ongoing dialogue, covering not only early and interesting motor vehicles, the personalities and fashions involved, but also the surrounding buildings, gardens & general lifestyle of a now almost forgotten era! Also some more recent stuff is always appreciated.
