In a previous article we showed you a photo of an unknown driver with a winning smile. It was quickly discovered that his name was Walter Clifford Earp, driving a Napier. Now Jim Merrick, who is the archivist of the Stanley Museum, tells us that Clifford Earp also drove an 80 or 100 hp Napier to victory in the 100 Mile Championship for the Minneapolis Cup, which was held at Ormond Beach (september8th.com) Ormond Beach is now called Daytona Beach. The picture (click for enlargement) shows Earp at the wheel of his Napier. Is it true that the Napier team drivers seemed to favour the all white body suits? (photo courtesy Jim Merrick).
