What is it ? # 167

It's a very, very rare car. Still this manufacturer was more than 10 years active in producing cars. According to Georgano there have been no less than 3 car manufacturers who have been using the same name. Two in the US - both very short-lived- and one in Europe, until the mid twenties. Cars like this one -which was saved from the scrap yard in the sixties - were actively campaigned from before WWI and quite successful. Interesting engine detail is the oil feeding which is similar with the working of a dredging machine (click). Pick-up cups bring the oil from deep down to dump it into the oil-leads... Race proven! This car was so modern that an enthusiast changed the pre 1918 car into a sports car in 1932 (click). 35 years later the car was restored to original and since then sits in a museum. So far the hints. Up to you to produce the no more than 100 words describing the identity of this car to win the PreWarCar/Roadmap gillet. Let the best man win! (photo source next week)
