What is it? Quiz # 255

The automobile on this superb photo was made by a relatively small company. We will not tell you in which country, but the cars in the background are a giveaway (just to test your post-war knowledge). The founder of the company was also its director for 35 years until the company folded before WW II. Some of the earlier models of this make were also sold in the UK, but under two different names, one in fact the name of the factory who made the earlier car’s engines. During WW I the company made good money building army trucks, although they also made Hispano-Suiza aero engines. Our quiz car was restored in the early 1960’s in order to get it ready for the 1963 rally Paris-Geneva-Turin rally. We have photoshopped the grille to remove the emblems. What we want to know from you is of course the make, model and year of our quiz car. Who was the founder? And what were the names of this make marketed in the UK? Perhaps you can even tell us where this car is now? Tell us all you know, please use our Contact Form before Monday, July 27, and be sure to see Read More for the Rules. Enjoy your weekend! (Photo source to be disclosed next week).
