Wheels for a Middleman

When in 1936 Panhard presented their new X76 Dynamic, it was a radical change from their previous offerings. The dynamic’s streamlined styling was much in the Art Deco style, with what Panhard called a panoramic front window. In reality it was made up of three flat pieces. But the Dynamic’s greatest styling gimmick was the three-abreast front seat, with driver -and steering wheel!- smack in the middle. We have never had the experience of driving a Dynamic, but feel that it must have been a bit awkward, especially when flanked by co-passengers on both sides and then trying to look out the small windows for traffic coming from the right or left. Panhard must have thought so too, as from 1939 the steering wheel was moved to the left. Want to try this driving position for yourself? Then have a look at Artcurial, who will be offering this concours winning Dynamic during their auction on April 27. It’s lot 21!
