I don’t know how the coupler is fitted, but many times it’s not adjustable due to a keyway. Sometimes there will be a simms coupling or something similar which is adjustable.
If it’s not the case you have to take off the timing gear cover and adjust the drivengear itself.
It’s difficult to tell from these photos how the magneto is mounted. You have to find out when taking it off.
It’s best not to overfill with oil. Better is to take it apart, properly grease the bearings with modern hi tack grease and never worry about it again. Oiling will flush away good grease and theyou have to regularly oil it making the inside a mess.
Hi thanks for getting back can you adjust the coupler on the magneto looks fixed the timing is quite retarded leaving the car and little hard to start and not pulling as good one other thing how do I know if there's enough oil in the magneto many thanks bob
This magneto does not have a manual spark adjuster, it’s fixed in place.
To set basic timing, you have to take the magneto of the car and either adjust the coupler or refit the drive gear in a different position
