The 2016 Statesmen Rally Kolkata, India
Supratim Basu sent us some pictures shot at the recent the Statesman Vintage and Classic Car Rally, which was held January 31th in Kolkata, India.
Het has participated in an 1922 Austin 12/4, while wearing a traditional tunic.
The rally is held every year since 1968 when Statesman, a paper publishing house in Kolkata started this rally. The preview gave a good idea of the very interesting cars (196 in total, cars and motorcycles), both original verhicles as specials, one of them even got a golden radiator and frontbumper. It is always a pleasure to see how different people from various countries look at the great hobby that we have in common.

Sadly this post shows the Statesman Rally in poor light specially the “golden radiator”
car. The Statesman rally had some beautiful cars, a Nawab’s Bentley, Cadillac, 1920’s Wolseley,
Lancia DiLambda, Jaguar SS, pre 1920’s Crossley, Citroen and Standard, Daimler,
Adler. Kolkata itself has a few Rolls-Royce, Mercedes 130H and a ca. 1912 Stoewer.

Are better cars in Kolkata than shown here. About two years ago I had sent a 1928 Ford A, Kolkata is very far away from Mumbai.
