Purchasers of a 20/60 Vauxhall had about eight different body options they could choose from. This car arrived in New Zealand back in 1930 with a Richmond body on it. Over the years that body became very shabby. The car was purchased by the current owner in 2012 with the desire to build an exact copy of the time period Hurlingham body. He researched and viewed Hurlinghams both here and in England taking 100's of photographs, patterns and measurements from Hurlinghams and then proceeded to have the current body built
Accurate patterns were made for all ancillary parts (centre windscreen staunch-on and door handles) and then cast in brass and plated. The front and rear windscreen frames were fabricated from patterns had taken off the orginal Hurlinghams he had pretty much unlimited access to. The seats were copied from original Hurlingham seats.
The car is mechanically strong with a go anywhere feel to it. The combination of a large engine & light body give it serious performance for the day when it was regarded as a bit of a hot rod
This is one of those cars you just hop in and go for a weekend cruise with the kids / grandkids behind you in he 'dickey seat. A real head turner.
