This unique steam car is a completely original 1909 Lane Model 15, offering a highly distinctive design that sets it apart from most other steam vehicles. It is the only surviving Lane Model 15 in existence.
Experts consider the Lane to be one of the finest steam cars of the early automotive era, produced between 1900 and 1910. Lane’s first steam car made its debut on American roads in the summer of 1900, marking a pivotal moment in automotive history.
The car operates via a boiler heated by a gas burner, with the burner, boiler, and engine serving as its key components. It also features a condenser that recycles used steam back into water, meaning you never need to refill with water.
This particular Lane was housed in an American museum for over 60 years before being moved to England. Its previous owners barely drove it, and when I acquired it years ago with little knowledge of steam cars, I embarked on a journey of discovery with a close friend. After extensive work, the car now runs exceptionally well and has participated in multiple rallies.
The vehicle is officially inspected by steam experts every two years, and the boiler is accompanied by a boiler certificate for added peace of mind.
The car comes with a wealth of documentation, and to ensure that the next owner can drive it with confidence, I will personally offer instruction on its operation.
