A well-sorted and very usable pre-war sports tourer
Chassis No.: OH10038
Registration: Netherlands (EU)
Body-off restoration: 2010
The Car:
A charming and well-sorted Lagonda 2 Liter Low Chassis, offering the character, sporting elegance and driving experience that make this pre-war car so appealing.
This is a car to be enjoyed on the open road, whether on relaxed weekend drives, longer touring holidays or classic motoring events throughout Europe.
Engine & Mechanical Condition:
The 2-litre engine, designed by W. O. Bentley, runs smoothly and starts readily. It pulls strongly and delivers the performance one would expect from an early sports tourer of this period.
In 2025, the engine received a new composite LMB head gasket and new cylinder head studs. Compression was measured recently at a healthy 8 bar.
Over the past four years, the car has been regularly driven and enjoyed, covering approximately 8000 km without any significant trouble.
Bodywork & Restoration:
The body is believed to be the original one fitted to the car.
In 2010, the car underwent a professional body-off restoration, including work on the wooden body frame, body covering and fabric, chassis, brakes, etc.
A new hood, tonneau cover and weather equipment were also supplied at the time. These remain in excellent condition.
Today, the body presents well, with minor signs of use consistent with a car of its age.
Chassis & Details:
The chassis is finished in a dark red, giving it a distinctive and sporting appearance.
The centralized lubrication system is regularly used, and all lubrication lines are reported to be operational.
A Car to Be Driven and Enjoyed:
During the past four years, we have used this Lagonda for family and friends' outings, holidays, weekend touring, classic rallies and days out. Approximately 8000 km of use have demonstrated its character as an enjoyable and usable pre-war sports car.
It is a particularly appealing choice for someone looking for a classic Lagonda to drive and enjoy throughout the year, rather than simply to display.
The car presents with an attractive balance of sporting elegance, period character and usability.
No immediate work is currently anticipated based on our experience with the car. The tires are, however, ageing, and replacement with a suitable set of five Blockley tires would be worth considering.
History & Documentation:
The car is accompanied by an extensive collection of historical documentation, comprising approximately two boxes of material.
The collection includes historical books, invoices, correspondence, workshop manuals and other related literature and documents.
This substantial archive offers valuable insight into the history, maintenance and technical background of the car, providing an additional dimension to its appeal for the enthusiast and collector alike.
Summary:
An honest and usable Lagonda 2 Liter Low Chassis, enjoyed on the road and maintained with continued use in mind.
A wonderful opportunity for an enthusiast seeking an engaging pre-war sports tourer with character, presence and genuine usability.
The car is situated in the North-East of France where it can be seen and tested on appointment. I Speak Dutch and Englisch.
