1929 OM 665 Superba Mille Miglia
An exceptional opportunity for the 2027 Centenary Mille Miglia and a full season of historic motoring events.
More Than a Mille Miglia Entry
The 1929 OM 665 Superba, bodied by Carrozzeria Moderna to a design by Mario Casaro, offers something increasingly rare in the world of historic motoring: exceptional originality combined with a proven record of competition and endurance.
Recognised by the OM Register as one of the very few cars retaining genuine originality in every detail, including its body paint and interior materials, this is a car with both historical integrity and real-world experience.
Its appeal extends far beyond its eligibility for the 2027 Mille Miglia. This is an OM 665 that has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to take on demanding rallies and long-distance journeys, making it an exciting proposition for an owner seeking to participate throughout the historic motoring season.
A Proven Mille Miglia Competitor
Since its rediscovery in 2016, the car has accumulated an impressive competition record:
Eight Mille Miglia starts: 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2025 and 2026.
Two appearances at the Gran Premio Nuvolari.
Two appearances at the Giro di Sicilia.
OM’s enjoy an early starting position at the Mille Miglia, adding to the model’s appeal for future participation. With the 100th Mille Miglia scheduled for 22–29 May 2027, this Spyder offers a rare eligibility opportunity to join the centenary edition in a car with an established record at the event.
Proven Beyond the Rally Circuit
In the summer of 2024, the current owner and his co-driver undertook an extraordinary Capo Nord expedition.
Running on Pirelli Collezione tyres, faithfully recreated from the originals introduced in 1927, the OM completed this remarkable expedition under real touring conditions.
Departing from Poggibonsi on 15 July, with an official send-off at Pirelli’s Milan headquarters, they drove north through Denmark and Norway to the northernmost point of Europe before returning through Finland, Sweden and Germany.
The journey also included laps at Pirelli’s Sottozero proving ground in Swedish Lapland, in both wet and dry conditions.
The figures speak for themselves:
28 days on the road.
Approximately 10,400 kilometres travelled.
Around 190 hours behind the wheel.
Nearly 30 stages.
Zero kilometres on motorways.
No tyre changes throughout the journey.
For a prospective owner, this achievement is particularly significant. It demonstrates the car’s credentials not only in organised rallies, but also as a machine capable of sustained, long-distance use across varied terrain and conditions.
One Car. A Season of Possibilities.
The 2027 Centenary Mille Miglia is the natural highlight, but it need not be the sole reason to acquire this car.
Its existing event history and demonstrated endurance make it an appealing candidate for a broader programme of historic rallies and motoring adventures. Rather than purchasing a car for one major event, the next owner can acquire a well-documented historic competitor with a record of participation to build upon.
The combination of established Mille Miglia experience, Gran Premio Nuvolari and Giro di Sicilia appearances, and the North Cape expedition gives the car a distinctive identity within the historic motoring world.
It offers the opportunity to participate, explore and enjoy the car throughout the season, while continuing a story that began nearly a century ago.
Exceptional Originality. Exceptional Provenance.
The car’s history is supported by an extensive documentary file, including:
Photographs documenting its discovery in 2016.
Original auction purchase documents and period paperwork, including its Italian registration booklet with pages from the Province of Trieste and the Free Territory.
Restoration photographs and records.
Event photographs and press coverage from the Capo Nord expedition.
A sworn appraisal by a court-appointed expert (Consulente Tecnico d’Ufficio), covering both its as-found and current condition.
CSAI, ASI and FIVA passports, a current CRS, and its Mille Miglia Register listing.
After remaining untouched in garages from 1960 until its rediscovery in 2016, the car retains an extraordinary degree of originality. Only the convertible-top canvas and seat upholstery required replacement, following the discovery that the original leather was beyond repair.
This combination of originality, documentation and demonstrated use distinguishes the Spyder from a historic car whose appeal rests primarily on appearance or specification.
