Bonus for today's Sunbeam Mabley buyer.

The Sunbeam Mabley was the first Sunbeam to go into series production. And it is believed that a number of around 130 have been built of which a handful have been saved. An original photo of such a rare car is a rarity in itself. Visitor Ian Murray was kind enough to make a very generous offer to give the depicted photo from his collection to the new owner of the Sunbeam Mabley that is being auctioned at Bonhams today. The new custodian of this special car is kindley invited to contact us and we'll forward the message to Ian Murray.

Interesting reading your comments Michael.
The Mabley in the original photograph was owned by a farmer in Aberdeenshire. Presumably that's him behind the tiller with his wife and child up-front. If Aberdeenshire farm roads were anything like the are today, and the Mabley as difficult to drive as you describe, a trip to the shops must have been quite an adventure! Anyone brave enough to buy one I think deserves an original photograph to go with it!

What a great picture of a Mabley. I have a soft spot for this breed, as I drove one twice to Brighton. It came from Richard Evans' collection on the Isle of Man. Previously I had heard how difficult they were to drive, one driver was actually tipped out and broke an arm. The problem is with the wheels in such a strange formation you have to look out for drain covers and the like in the road surface, if you catch the angle wrong it really can effect the steering or even tip you up! I wish the new owner well - in some ways I wish it could be me! Michael.
