A lady with an ongoing mystery, or not?

When a photograph of a car comes up in our online magazine that we cannot identify, we normally know in which direction we have to look. And if we cannot solve the mystery ourselves, we know our knowledgeable readers most of the time have an idea and then we know it as well.

But with this car, it was a bit more difficult to recognize the front of the car. It is a special. But a special built before 1937.  How do we know this? We know the beautiful lady sitting in the car. It is the German singer and actress Renate Müller, who lived from 1906 till 1937.

Further research leads us to an article from 2014 in our magazine called: a miniature XL bonnet Mystery, which was at that time a mystery as well, but one that we finally solved. The pre-war car in the photograph appears to be a Stoewer based special, used from parts of the 1928 Stoewer 8 cyl S8, G14 and early S10s.

As Renate Müller was an actress, we looked into that and found a movie called: "Die Englische Heirat" from 1934, in which Renate was the mechanic of the car. Yes, you read it right!
