A mystery hidden behind one horsepower
We hope you all had a good weekend. Today a brand new Monday Mystery. We see Invermere Hotel in East Kootenay, a regional district in the Canadian province of British Columbia, Canada back in August 1914. On the right-hand side, we see a pre-war which is not very difficult to identify. But there is another car parked right in front of the hotel. You can clearly see one of the wooden spoke wheels and part of the back of the car. The front is hidden behind one horsepower. Is anyone able to identify the car? Please comment below. The mountain climbers seem to have a good time. Shall we join the party?!

For sure a 1913 Franklin G, as I have a 1912.......

The car in question appears to be a 1914 Franklin as it has electric cowl lights and electric headlamps. 1913 Franklins still used kerosene side lights and acetylene headlamps. The Standard Catalog of American cars shows this model year differance as did many U.S makes. Overland models transitioned from acetylene and kerosene in early 1913 to full electric lighting on late 1913 models.

At first glance you might think Renault, but in the US and apparently also Canada the name Franklin should come to mind immediately looking at the coal scuttle bonnet with the 'missing' water reservoir. It is a 1913 Franklin model G and if you'd mirror the uploaded image (copied from the yearly overview in the American Trade Journal, a must for every id specialist), you'll come to the same conclusion!
