About Quiz #423 - 1913 Meteorite
The car in last week's quiz is a 1913 Meteorite and this image of another 1913 model helped us identify the date - the registration numbers being just 5 digits apart. Initially named Meteorite Motors Ltd. until 1921 when they re-named the company Meteorite Cars Ltd which finally closed in October 1924.
The company concentrated on making munitions during WWI and in 1919 the works was taken over by the firm of coachbuilders Strachan and Brown who not only made the coachwork for the car but also handled the sales. You can read more HERE.
Now let's see who knew the answer - Brendan Walsh thought it was a 'Tiny' Cyclecar and Robert Hafner guessed 1914 Alldays Midget. Sorry guys, there's just one correct reply this week from Ace Zenek whose knowledge of Meteorites is impressive and his *astronomical* description deserves a round of applause but since he has won three times before he shall have to be content with a seat on his celestial pedestal.

Despite the close registration numbers (license plates) there are some notable differences between the two Meteorite cars.
The quiz car has:
1. No plating on the radiator fins.
2. Shorter filling spout on top of radiator
3. No bar across center of radiator.
4. Bottom of radiator without center. label, and possibly the whole bottom of the radiator is different.
5. The area from the bottom of the windshield to the top of the cowl looks taller.
So are these different models, different model years, did they change radiator designs, or is there some other explanation for the changes?
And finally, do any Meteorite cars survive?
