Alberto F. Roth en zijn Minerva – racen in Argentinië
Op deze foto zien we Alberto F. Roth, een vooraanstaande Argentijnse persoonlijkheid uit zijn tijd, achter het stuur van een Minerva racewagen. De opname werd gemaakt tijdens een wedstrijd in Argentinië en toont Roth vlak voor de start, met een vastberaden blik en zijn monteur naast hem. De kleine inzetfoto laat de Minerva in volle actie zien, over een stoffige landweg, terwijl toeschouwers – of zijn het toevallige passanten? – het spektakel van dichtbij volgen.
Minerva is hier al vaker besproken, met mysterieze foto’s. Dit specifieke exemplaar, duidelijk gestript voor de race en gehavend door intensief gebruik, is een nieuw Belgisch raadsel. Werd deze Minerva in deze uitvoering rechtstreeks uit België geïmporteerd, of werd hij misschien lokaal aangepast aan de Argentijnse raceomstandigheden? Het exacte model is niet met zekerheid te bepalen – zou het een sportieve afgeleide van de 20CV of 30CV kunnen zijn?
Daarom richten we ons tot u: herkent iemand deze Minerva? Alle informatie over het model, de racegeschiedenis of de weg die deze auto naar Argentinië bracht, is van harte welkom.

Looks immediately pre WW1, could be 26CV but I'm not sure about the 3/4 elliptic rear and RAF style wheels

That is a 1912 chassis, which was identical for both the 16hp and 25hp models. The 38hp model had a slightly different transmission. Spring configuration is correct and the wheels were indeed RAF wheels (from the Soc. des Roues Amovibles Françaises).

This is not a 1914 TT car, but one of the Minerva-team which participated in the Grand Prix de Belgique of 1912. Most probably the car on this photo belonged to Godeau.
Although very similar to the Argentinian racer, there are some differences; the vent slids in the body just after the bonnet are different and also the dumb-irons of the Grand Prix car seem to extend further forward.

Absolutely correct Ariejan, dont know why i mixed up the TT with the 1912 GP Belgium.
Did not 3 cars entered that race, The 1912 cars look more modern than the 1914 ones with the fuel tank on the back.
Also, there was an importand Minerva dealer at the time in Buenos AIres, The building with Minerva logo was stil there entil the1990 ties. Maybe stil exist ?
