Any idea what make this PreWarCar can possibly be?

Ooooh, they could afford the posh version, as pictured in the Bystander. As a 1905, 6hp Rover, with its vertical tube radiator, this appears to be the better-finished option weighing 7cwt with wooden artillery wheels and 3ins tyres and costing £120, compared to the basic wire-wheeled model with 700x65 Dunlop tyres at 6cwt and £105. Not to mention the extra luxuries of a windscreen, folding hood, two lights, running boards and a spare tyre cover.

Previewed at the Stanley show in November 1904, the innovative 6hp was claimed to be “the first 100 guinea car” at the 21st January 1905 Birmingham show; it was painted bright vermilion. To achieve the price, Rover budgeted to sell 500 in the first year.

The Rover agent in Northampton and district in 1905 was Grose Ltd, Pike Lane, Marefair, which advertised 6hp, 8hp and 16hp models in stock. Grose were themselves car constructors and coachbuilders, also manufacturing non-skidding and puncture-proof tyres.
