A great drawing of two ladies wearing the large hats that came into fashion in the early years of the previous century. And do check the envious looks of the lady in the passing automobile! The painting was made in 1911 by Marcello Dudovich, who was born in Italy in 1878 and died on March 31st 1962, fifty years ago tomorrow. He was one of the great poster artists, who worked for Pirelli, Bugatti and many others. Dudovich was also a great admirer of the female figure, as shown in this now-famous 1934 poster for the Fiat Balilla. However, this poster was banned by the pope and he had to re-draw the lady's skirt to make it less pronouncing. But the commotion was certainly no bad promotion for either Fiat or Dudovich.
