Homesick for Beaulieu

It's been one week later and we feel homesick! What is this about Beaulieu that makes you feel at home instantly the moment you arrive, which is keeping you busy every minute of the day and gives you the feeling you're experiencing the finest All Inn Holiday. Even a good match of jumble cricket at night was part of the joy. At bats we see Hall 'Firetruck' Fillinger from the US and in the background at right groundsman Dougal 'Longstone' Cawley. Despite warnings for massive showers and Irene like gailes the weather was just perfect, on the warm side. If not for all other reasons, it may have been the intelligent marketing techniques by Bas 'Austin 7' Jansen  that were attracting the crowds. As always there was something for everyone. Most original car of the show was no doubt Bonhams' Isotta Fraschini tourer which fetched something like GBP 80,000. Too much? You could have had one of a choice of early Landrovers starting from GBP 235. If you preferred some more refinement, a fabulous but a bit too recently cooked in appearance was this Delage D8 racer in the fields. In the evening lots was going on, including a most informal formal dinner. And after all that you needed to find a stylish means to take all the found goodies out of the fields back home. Beaulieu we miss you. Beaulieu Autojumble 2012, we'll be there.
