Daimler: the obvious choice for a wedding?

Daimlers have been the preferred choice of the British Royal family, a tradition that started with the Prince of Wales taking delivery of his first Daimler in 1900 and three years later, as King Edward VII, ordering another two. However, things change, and Kate is not going to Westminster Abby by Daimler. Instead she has chosen an ‘ordinary’ Rolls Royce, the same claret and black 1977 Phantom VI in which Charles and Camilla were travelling when they were attacked by a mob during protests before Christmas.

Yet we can’t have a wedding day like this without a Daimler, so we dug up this image made by F. Gordon Crosby that shows the 1935 Silver Wedding cars leaving Buckingham Palace (click main pic for larger version).
