Desirable European and American icons will steal the show at Scottsdale
Scottsdale, Arizona will be the place where many cars will find a new home next week. The catalogues are online and so there is much to look at for enthusiasts like ourselves. Today we took a look at the listings of
Worldwide Auctioneers.
They have quite a number of very desirable cars. Both European as well as American icons. Some of the highlights, in our eyes, are:
A PreWar racing icon, this Bugatti is what you call, desirable. The eight cylinder in line asks for serious driving. This particular one is on the button and ready to enjoy. It appears to be well documented since new, of which a summary can be found in the advert
Estimate: 1.900.000 – 2.400.00 USD
Same era as the Bugatti and a real competitor both in its time as nowadays, this stunning 3-litre Bentley is also a very desirable car. It is a factory-original Red Label Speed model, which means it has a shorter chassis of 9’9.5”and a higher compression engine. It has an original 4-seater Touring body by Vanden Plas, which suits the car perfectly, in our eyes.

Estimate: 400,000 - 500,000 USD
The American car manufacturers are, of course, also present. What to think about this smooth Superchargerd Auburn 851 Speedster. The catalogue says it is ‘one of the most striking designs of the classic era’ and we fully agree!
Not only the looks make it a desirable car but also its performance is something rather special. The Auburn 851 SC Speedster was the car that was used by Ab Jenkins in his attempt (with success) to become the first American to record an average speed over 100 mph for 12 hours.

Estimate: 750.000 – 950.000 USD
265 horsepower and a 4 seater touring body: do we need to say more! It’s a Duesy of course.
This type JN is what you can call a desirable icon. It has the looks, it has the power and it has the history to make us excited about. And we clearly aren’t the only ones as it has won the National First Place award at the 1978 AACA National Meet in Hershey.
