We hate pictures of accidents, but sometimes they serve as a warning to all of us. This is what happened to John Vahey and his friend when they were touring with John’s 1910 Model T. Suddenly the front stub axles broke and both John and his friend were thrown from the car. They suffered minor injuries, but we are happy to report that they are alright by now. The stub axles had been welded before John bought the T and later obviously cracked. John has since found an original set of stub axles and is already working hard to get the T back on the road. If we hate this kind of pictures then why are we showing you this? Because we recently saw a similar accident when the T of Dirk Regter broke down in Malawi with a broken kingpin during his World Tour. And also in the past this wasn’t an uncommon problem. We’re sure there are Model T experts among us, who know this problem and will be happy to share with us how to prevent this happening! And keep in mind, it's not only Model T's that can suffer from front axle issues...
