Drive and be Happy!

One of the most scenic events in Germany must surely be the Rhein-Ahr-Eifel-Klassik. Held last week for the third time this is a tourist rally for pre-war cars only. In two days they drove about 250 km along the river Rhine, through the romantic vineyards of the Ahr-Valley and up to the beautiful landscape of the Eifel-mountains. Particularly outstanding was the participation of two Swedish participants. Glenn and Helden Billqvist came with their 1925 Mathis GM Sport 1.4 and Einar Budde with Torhild Hansen from Malmö managed the whole route in an Austin Seven racing car without any mishaps. Around thirty pre-war cars enjoyed glorious weather, magnificent scenery, lots of tight curves and gradients that could only be negotiated in second gear. (text and photos Günter Ladda)
