Is dit een vroege Mors?

De Automóvil Club Argentino is begonnen met de restauratie van wat vermoedelijk een vroege Mors is. Bijgevoegd zijn verschillende foto’s van de bewaard gebleven auto, maar een aantal belangrijke vragen blijft vooralsnog onbeantwoord.
We willen vooral graag vaststellen:
- Is dit een Mors van 5 pk?
- In welk jaar werd hij gebouwd?
- Had dit model oorspronkelijk een conventioneel rond stuurwiel of een stuurhendel? Indien een stuurhendel werd gebruikt, zouden foto’s daarvan zeer welkom zijn.
- De radiateur ontbreekt. Daarom zijn duidelijke historische foto’s of technische tekeningen nodig aan de hand waarvan een nauwkeurige replica kan worden vervaardigd.
- Ook de motorkap ontbreekt. Gedetailleerde foto’s of tekeningen van de juiste uitvoering zouden daarom bijzonder behulpzaam zijn.
Alle informatie, foto’s, tekeningen of documentatie die de Automóvil Club Argentino kan helpen deze belangrijke vroege automobiel zo nauwkeurig mogelijk te restaureren, is van harte welkom. Misschien kan een van onze lezers helpen het mysterie op te lossen?

In my opinion there can be little doubt that the car is a circa 1900 Mors petit duc model. Originally these had a flat lying opposed twin, but also in a similar vehicle in the Ulster Museum this engine has been replaced, in that case by a 1 cylinder Simms. The frame pattern including the complex system of gear changing rods matches the plan, as shown in the Motor Car Journal at the time. A difference seems to be the auxiliary column in front of the steering column, but that is similar to the larger models of 1899. The bonnet is a dummy, a modification which was seen more often in these days to give a car a more modern look.

Dear Charly, please don’t take this the wrong way, but I think you already know the answer and just want to confirm it… Among other ‘horrors’ regarding the dating of the ACA – which nobody seems interested in investigating, nor in accepting contributions on the matter... – I’ve never quite bought into the idea that it was a De Dion & Bouton, as has been claimed for decades! But even more serious, in my view, is the 19th-century Daimler that still bears signs saying ‘Benz’... Best wishes.

Estimado Charly, no lo tome a mal, pero creo que ya tiene la respuesta y solo quiere ratificarla.... Entre otros "horrores" de datación del ACA, que parece nadie tiene interés en investigar, ni aceptar colaboraciones en ese sentido..... nunca me cerró que ese fuera un De Dion&Bouton como se dijo por décadas! pero más grave aún, me resulta el Daimler del siglo XIX que sigue teniendo carteles que dicen "Benz"....., abrazo.
