Earlier this week in the PreWarCar.com magazine....
So many uncertainties... Can anyone give some clarity? Is there anybody out there who can identify the pre-war we see here and provide us with some information? We would be delighted!
Everyone who has been to the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run knows that most participants struggle to get to Brighton and to climb up the hills. But there are always a few lucky ones who have the right car with enough power to make us all eat their dust. For example this 50 HP 1903 Jennis, that was recently sold by Dragone Classic Motorcars.
The REO we see here on the photograph has a rough crossing. This was the motorcar used in the first cross Canada automobile trip, from Halifax to Vancouver. Looking at the facial expression of the man behind the wheel, he is a little nervous. But who would not be?
During the famous Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, Bonhams will be auctioning some fabulous cars. We went through their catalogue and directly found some great cars from the prestigious collection of Don C. Boulton.
The photograph you see here was taken in Northamptonshire, probably in the early or mid-1920s. The gentleman proudly standing in front of the car is believed to be F.C. Chamberlain. He was the founder of a thriving local boot and shoe manufacturing business and also a real philanthropist.
A very interesting headlight. Has the car been in an accident or is it the way the manufacturer designed it? The history of the make is quite funny as the builder made cars from a particular country for the price of another country. But without any additional and luxurious parts. Well, we said enough.
