A busy weekend last week with many car shows, but this weekend our team is putting the finishing touch to the fantastic rally The 100 Miles of Rotterdam 2018. A rally just for pre-war cars on a Saturday evening in wintertime (15th of December). There are still a few places open so if you want to have fun, please register as soon as possible! See The100Miles.com.
In the meantime, there was much to read in our online magazine.
We received a mystery photo of a big brass car, taken at the May Day parade with the Queen of May. Who doesn’t want to see that!? But which car is it? A McLaughlin? Or as one of our readers thought, a Buick? Share your ideas.
This week’s PreWarCar of the week is a 1928 Sunbeam 20HP Rally Saloon. Also known as 'Magnificent Monte'. The wonderful Sunbeam we see here was first registered on the 31st of December 1928. It was built by the same team that put together Sir Donald Campbell’s Sunbeam Bluebird.
Many of our readers like to have their hands dirty so we found another DIY project for you. Let`s try and build this catamaran! Any standard motorcycle will do as the power plant for this novel catamaran of speed raft. The rear wheel of the motorcycle drives an 8-in. wooden roller by friction.
We were a little bit in doubt. Because is this Friday Lady driving a pre-war or a post-war car? The sources told us the photograph is taken around 1942, so right on the edge. We see the Provincial Police helping a lost motorist. Hopefully, this friendly gentleman is able to show this young lady where to go.
The obscure streamlined car is the first of a bunch of more or less bizarre creations, built by German aviator Gottlob Espenlaub. Easy to identify is the basis of the car, a Wanderer Type 10/II.
