Identify car / parts

Letter to the editor

The car lay on the ground for about 60 years. All of the wood is away. In the words of the owner's son had the car a wooden frame and belonged to the family Collorado Mansfeld. But I have no photos, nothing. I would like to find out what car or cyclecar this is.

Can anyone help?

Hello Frantisek, Is this old car project in the Czech Republic or in the Americas (North or South) ? Thanks for letting me know its location.

Agreed Mike, a very strange thing. At the front of the engine there a cylindrical device lowdown, could that be a magneto of some sort? . The spark plugs would go above the inlet valves .
But those fans! They'd chop your fingers off pretty quick! And does the shaft that drives them go right through the cylinder block?
Are those de-compressors over the exhaust valves or priming taps?
I'd love to try and get it going!

That's a fascinating project - a strange engine - I can't see any ignition. It certainly looks old but strangely it has well base wheels whereas if it is as old as the rest of it seems it would have had beaded edge (clincher) tyres and rims. Presumably it is German/Austrian in origin perhaps dating from the austere period of the 1920's rather than pre WW1. It does not seem quite the car for such a family but then they did run into hard times.
