Jaap Horst sends on this mystery photo he received from Canada (people who send photos to Jaap, always hope their photo is showing a Bugatti; check below why..). The original sender wrote: "This was my wife's grandparents' car circa 1920-30. First, is it a Bugatti and if not, what kind of car is it? She would love to know. Thank you. GB."
Well it's clear what it's not, now we just like to find out what this big tourer can be. As it is easy to say it's not a Bugatti, but we don't make a point if you tell what it really is, isn't it? Anybody can see it is a big car, presumably a seven seater, yet the twelve occupants don't seem uncomfortable. Not a lot to see of the round shouldered radiator. The side louvres made us think of a 1915 Apperson, the shape of the doors of a Lozier, but both drop off with this radiator. Maybe the answer is quite easy, yet we just don't know. The well developped body looks like made by one of the big manufacturers, so let's concentrate on the wheels and hubcaps. Sorry to say we have no larger resolution scan. So we have to depend on 'crowd sluething', of which you can be part, to save Jaap's reputation and ours.
P.S. be sure to check Jaap Horst's fabulous book on the Bugatti 100P Airplane.
