One of the highlights of the upcoming Bonhams Auction at Scottsdale this Friday will be no doubt several cars in barn-find condition from the Pierce A. Miller Carriage Collection. Among them there's a 1908 Success, a 1907 Reo, and a 1903 Olds. But what we like most is the 1910 Detroit Electric Model D Brougham seen here. This was a very popular car in its heyday, especially with the ladies as these cars were easy to handle, no cranking was needed and they were not as noisy as their gasoline-powered brethren. This particular one seems to have survived the past hundred years quite well and looks like a nice restoration project. Driving it today in the city will give you an edge, as electric automobiles are all the rage now and loading points are cropping up everywhere. Recently the city of Amsterdam celebrated that they installed the 200th loading point for electric automobiles, although we must add that in the 1920s Amsterdam already had more than 2500 (!) loading points due to the many electric taxicabs that were in use. Will history turn full cycle? Enjoy a Detroit Electric ride. (photo courtesy Bonhams)
