Last Sunday one hundred Rolls-Royce motor cars took to the streets of London to celebrate the centenary of the Spirit of Ecstasy, the Flying Lady first fitted to Rolls-Royce models in 1911. (Surely you have seen the story we recently published on its mysterious history). The drive started in Belgravia making its way past famous London landmarks such as Big Ben, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus. The route also passed the birthplace of Charles Rolls in Hill Street, Mayfair and the studio on Brompton Road where sculptor Charles Sykes is thought to have created his Flying Lady.
