Motoring through a buttonhole

We are aware that our hobby comes in many variations: collecting life-size automobiles; automotive literature or postage stamps with car, just to name a few. But we had never heard of collecting automotive buttons until William James Hentges told us of his unusual hobby. In the early days of motoring many cars were chauffeur driven, and these chauffeurs wore uniforms of which the buttons represented the importance of their job. The buttons in William’s collection date back to the turn of the last century and we must admit that we had no idea there were so many wonderful automotive buttons or that so many were representing actual autos. Amazing hobby!
