My grandfather and his (mystery?) cars

Last month, during InterClassics in Maastricht Paul Gadet came to our stand. He showed us these three pictures from an old family album. The first two pictures are taken in 1928. In the second picture, we see a young boy sitting in the front, that is Paul's father. The last picture with the three ladies probably dates from the late thirties.

Paul would like to find out which cars his grandfather owned. He thinks both cars might be Chevrolets. Is he right? Can anyone tell him more about these cars, their technique and/or performance?
