National Walk the Dog Day

The 22nd of February is it National Walk the Dog Day! But today we do it slightly differently. Because what could be better than first taking your dear four-legged friend for a drive, for you both to enjoy? Not the same route as you usually take. Put in some extra effort and find a new place for a walk. Exercise and explore the unknown!

Over the years we have seen many dogs being chauffeured around. Isn`t this picture of American Film actress Colleen Moore wonderful? Share a picture of your (or your friends', neighbours', etc.) dog, preferably in a PreWarCar, in a comment below.

Have a good week everyone!

A dog picture: Here is Vancouver Public Library photo no. 2424. It shows 1912 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost chassis 1915E with a Barker tourer body by the famous Hollow Tree in Vancouver, Canada. Alas I don't know the names of the dogs, but I can tell you who the people are. The lady in the front seat was still alive in 1999. The car's owner then was General John Stewart, a railway and logging magnate. That's him in the centre of the back seat. The car survived into the 1930s but was then broken up. The engine and gearbox have survived and were rescued by Joe Loecy of Ohio, USA, who used them to create a new touring car in the early 1980s.

Walking down the street one time a few years ago and coming upon the rear of what I found out was a 38 MGTA, I thought, "Oh look, a woman is driving that car." Then I got closer and realised that a long-haired dog was driving it. That can't be right. Then I noticed that the car was right-hand-drive and the dog wasn't driving it but was only a passenger.

So amongst all the pandemic woes we decided on some normality and took the kids (Luger and Coco) out recently for a spin and a picnic (in an isolated spot of course!). They thoroughly enjoyed the ear flapping experience of an open air 1933 Austin roadster.
