New York City in 1911 - upscaled

It is just unbelievable how they can upscale old footage with modern technology. Denis Shiryaev restored an old black and white video of New York City and boosted the resolution to 4K. Various editing techniques make even the smallest details visible in this upscaled version of a trip through New York City in 1911.

Who can tell us what PreWarCars we see in the video? Some (parts) of the vehicles we see might still be around!

At the very end (7:46), they show you the comparison between the original (source) and the upscaled version. It is just stunning!

If you have any other upscaled videos you can recommend, please share them with us.

It is amazing and so good to see these old films restored and upgraded. This 1910 example really brings the time to life, but there were not too many cars. If you would like to see lots of cars from 1906 I suggest you have a look at what is titled '1900 San Francisco' . Google that and look at the twelve minute film. This was taken just before the great earthquake and fire of April 1906 which destroyed the city and killed thousands of people. It is a busy street scene with not too many rules of the road and pedestrians don't have the right of way. I hope this film will be technically upgraded and then it will be really good.

The side-wheel steamship seen at 7:15, the Rosedale was taken over by the US Navy in WW1 and used for patrols. Must have scared hell out of the U-boats!
