On your mark, get set, go!

This coming Sunday, the 24th of June 2018 it is time for the Vintage Motorsport Festival featuring the Formula Vintage. This time the races will take place in Donington Park in Leicestershire, England. Donington Park motor circuit was the first permanent park circuit in England. As this is a non-championship round, there is an opportunity for drivers and mechanics to experiment with the cars and try to make that one perfect adjustment to get ahead of the competition and win the next rounds of the Formula Vintage.

The Vintage Sports-Car Club (VSCC) will also mark their 80th anniversary of the first stand-alone Race meeting held by the Club. Which was held on the 23rd of April 1938. A glorious day of motor racing is ahead of us, whereby the cars are divided into the following sections: vintage, pre-1961 and pre-war sports-cars. Of course this time there will also be the always popular scratch and handicap formats.

It is quite common that the cars that enter the Formula Vintage have participated in famous international rallies, as the Mille Miglia and Le Mans. But what makes this particular day so special, is that many of the other participating cars that will be racing at the event are rarely seen in action. Among which cars that raced during Donington’s golden pre-WWII era.

Besides all this race excitement, the event also features a park & parade and a public grid walk which gives visitors a chance to get up close and personal with the drivers and their impressively fast race machines.

You can also get to know more about the history of the circuit. On display is among other Barry Foster's MG Q-Type which was Raced by Dorothy Stanley-Turner in the Nuffield Trophy Race at Donington in 1937. These cars will also complete a parade lap on the track.
