What about the Peugeot 175 Torpedo Sport 1923

Patrick Jacob sends photos of his recent acquisition: a Peugeot 175 Torpedo Sport of 1923. We already have a certificate from Peugeot, so it is a real Peugeot... but the odd thing is we can' t find any information about these 2951cc engined cars. Do we ask the wrong people? Are we looking in the wrong direction? Or are they just bloody rare?

editor: well Patrick, we can imagine it is rare, yet when it is a Peugeot, there must be a book, a manual, a club or at least a website. Let's wait what the visiting experts have to say.

The blue car, with the polished aluminium bonnet, shown in the photo was my '175'. I restored it in the '80s, and drove it on many VSCCA rallies. A wonderful car, with superb handling. Wish I still had it !

I own a 1924 Ballot 2lt and the engine looks remarkably similar especially the mountings. Of course mine is only 2 ltr, so if you find another 3 ltr Peugeot engine I would be interested!!
Hello,

I have one original 'brochure descriptive' in French language. I can make some hi-res Pictures of it.

Best regards,

That would be really great ! You can contact me by the site as I still have the ad published for information about the Peugeot. A big thanks in advance

The light blue car was driven to a European Event by a gentleman from Melbourne and sold after the event. This car had parts from the New Zealand car mentioned by Mike Rose in it. I feel sure that there is at least one other car in the U.K.
The maroon 175 Uk car came from Tasmania and was sold to "l Aventure Peugeot"

MikER... if it were not for those hoarders there would be no old cars running around today, no barn finds and no sort after extremely valuable pieces of crap to be found at autojumbles. I thank the world for hoarders and hail them profusely . All i ask is that they die before me!
I had a present from the other side of the world, New Zealand. A very friendly mr. Tony had send me a copy of the manuel of the 175 Peugeot. Also had found out there are at least 2 others (both in France now) and a lot to recreate an other car in Australia. A red/maroon car from Tasmania/England is at the Peugeot museum and a light bleu one must be somewhere in the south of france.
303 cars were built between 1923 and 1924.
I still wonder if there are more surviving cars. Are there???
Remains of a very-incomplete 175 in New Zealand, in the desperate clutches of an inveterate hoarder....
