82nd Pioneer Run for veteran motorcycles 

Sunday 2nd October 2022
This run for pre-1915 motorcycles starts at Tattenham Corner, Epsom, U.K., at around 8.00 a.m. on Sunday 2nd October 2022. Some 200 of these venerable motorcycles, tricycles and sidecar outfits will make for Brighton City Airport at Shoreham on the South Coast and the finish. This will be the 82nd annual run organised by the Sunbeam Motor Cycle Club. There are ample opportunities for spectators to view the machines at the start and at the finish, plus of course at points along the route which runs through the beautiful Surrey and Sussex countryside.

One of the wettest days for a Pioneer Run that I can remember! Spirits were not dampened however and a good turnout of riders made it safely (if damply) from Epsom to Brighton City Airport at Shoreham. For myself, frustratingly, my grandfather's 1910 Arno ceased to function about half a mile from the finish but I managed to join the happy throng in the paddock just as the sun decided to shine. A huge selection of wonderful machines, but surely the star was the fabulous three-wheeled Slinger which has made a welcome return to the Sunbeam Club's Pioneer Run.
