Public health nurse Ann and her service car
We need them so badly, the nurses, doctors and other people working in the public health sector. Especially with the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease, we need them more than ever. Be grateful for the work they do and the risk they take to care of the sick people.
This picture is taken in Vancouver Island's Harbour City, Nanaimo in 1941. We see public health nurse Ann Quayle Murray posing with her service car. Can anyone tell us more about this car?

This coupe would be the cheapest Ford at the time, but some nurses were driving more expensive models. The photo I have included from the City of Vancouver Archives, taken in 1945, shows a few vehicles used by the Canadian Red Cross. You can see three of them are 'station wagons', also called 'woody wagons'. I am sure they are more expensive than your average coupe or sedan and much rarer. The bodies are a full wood build and many people think they are beautiful. In North America they are sought after and carry a good price.

Of all the V-8 Fords from 1932 to 1940, the 38 is the only ugly one.

I seem to remember this was known in the American market as a "Business Coupe" and was a 'stripped' version with little chrome and no extras for sales reps.
We had something similar in the UK in the '60s and '70's - I seem to remember the Ford Anglia 105E could be supplied that way with only half the chrome radiator grille, no glovebox lid, no chrome around the windscreen and rubber mats inside....
