No doubt you are just as curious as we to know who will be the first to cross the finish line in Paris. Oh, not interested in cycling? No problem, then study this photo of the 1930 Tour de France. It’s difficult to read the read the hand-written script on the photo, but we do know that the car is a Hudson Great Eight driven by André Morel. What we don’t know is the name of his co-driver, but for finishing first they were presented with this lovely art-deco Ansaldo trophy. Can you tell us more about this Tour de France for automobiles?
The Ansaldo trophy was awarded to Morel for winning the regularity challenge and not for finishing first.
I don't know about the co-driver as i'm not even sure there was one. However the other man could be Mr Colas who competed in the 2 liter category on a Hudson-Essex.
So we had Mr Morel on a 3.6 liters Hudson in the 5 liters category and Mr Colas on a 2.7 liters Hudson in the 2 liters category!
