Still boxed, but what’s inside?

Right on the heels of last Friday's Isotta-Fraschini girl, we found another one. No, not a girl, but real life engine! Browsing Bonhams catalogue for the Simeone auction in Philadelphia, we stumbled on this crated Isotta-Fraschini engine and transmission, supposedly for a Typo 8A. It doesn't say which engine this is as the Isotta was offered with three different engine specifications. This engine and transmission was probably purchased as a spare for the very interesting Lancefield-bodied Tipo 8A Coupe, which is also on offer. Because it is still crated, the engine has not been inspected, the exhaust manifold is not attached and the carburetors are missing, but it does seem complete. If interested, take a look at lot number 436!
