The Diplomat’s Motorcar

This fine automobile used to be a Diplomat’s car from the Luxemburg Embassy in Bern, Switzerland.  It is a 1909 M.A.F.  5/14. The photo of the M.A.F. was sent to us by owner Joseph Schmidt from Germany. He tells us that M.A.F. stands for Markranstadter Automobil-Fabrik, who was active near Leipzig, Germany from 1908 until 1921. These automobiles were made by Hugo Ruppe, son of Arthur Ruppe, who manufactured the Piccolo. Just like his father Hugo used mostly air-cooled 4-cilinder engines. Great photo of a great car with distinctive driver. Vielen Dank Joseph!

Photos welcome: tell us & show us your own antique automobile. List your photo and a few lines at “Show Your Pre-War Car”.
