The first leg to Brighton

At a press conference yesterday in Brussels, plans for the 2009 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run (LBVCR) were presented. This year the Run celebrates early Belgian motoring and manufacturers of the pre 1905 period. On show were the 1900 Vivinus from the Collection Mahy, a 1904 Minerva owned by Jacques Vander Stappen and a 1900 Nagant-Gobron Brillie owned by Philippe Vercruysse, the actual car that is featured on the LBVCR website. After the presentation the Vivinus left for London where it will be on display at The Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall. The 2009 LBVCR will be held over three days with a auction by Bonhams on Friday 30 October; a Concours in Regent Street on Saturday 31 October and the actual Run on Sunday 1 November. No less than 549 cars have entered the Run, of which 49 are pre 1900!
