The last leg was from Parma back to Brescia, a journey over only 320 km

Again thousands of over-enthusiastic Italians were helping us through the day. After creating a big mess on the lovely piazza in Lodí. We drove through the centre of Milano, it was great to see the Duomo! We passed by the Museo Alfa Romeo in Arese (tip for petrol heads) on our way to the Circuito di Monza. After the lunch at Monza, we drove along the banks of the old circuit where great drivers in great cars fought but unfortunately also died.

The finish in Brescia was ahead and everything still went smoothly, would everything still keep on working...? At 5.30 pm we arrived at the official finish at the Iveco parking place at Brescia. Everyone was preparing to go to the official podium in the Viale Venezia but suddenly our FIAT decided to stop! Technical as I am, I only could call my mechanic. The problem was that the carburator had too much fuel. Only a very small handling was done and the car started. We drove behind at least 40 police motorbikes to the podium in Brescia, where we stood behind car number 467...so we were the last participant! We were everywhere on time, but finished last!

After a terrible start due to the theft of our dad's Alfa, we enjoyed the great and indescribable rally through Italy. We travelled through the most beautiful towns, villages and landscapes and we were supported by hundreds maybe thousands of people on the side of the road. The Mille Miglia is in the hearts of the Italians. Thanks, everyone for supporting. Grazie Mille Miglia, grazie Italia! Jeroen & Susanne

The Coppa Clemente Biondetti, was won by the other Branderhorst team for the most beautiful Alfa Romeo. The cup is more than 60 years old and previously belonged to Clemente. The winner of at least 3 original Mille Miglia races! How impressive!
