The Migratory Swift

Several friends of Peter Ransom are currently crossing Australia (west to east) as part of an expedition to celebrate the centenary of the first west-east crossing of the continent by car in 1912. It's 5,000km across and they're approaching the half-way point Most entrants in the event had to travel from the east coast to the west just to reach the start and there were some clever ideas about how to get the cars across the country. Like the car in the van. It's a Swift and apart from being a great photo it made us think of the birds of the same name that apparently have amazing migration patterns. Here's one pattern the bird people haven't discovered!
