The Red Baron Mystery (Upd. Austro-Daimler due to curved screen)

This photo was sent to us by Daniel Kosinski from the USA. Daniel is an avid collector of WW I memorabilia and especially relics of Flying Ace Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen, otherwise known as the “Der Rote Kampfflieger” and “The Red Baron”. He’s seen here in a photo taken in 1917 preparing to exit the car. Sitting at the wheel of what looks like a very stylish German bodied automobile is famous Dutch airplane designer, Anton H.G. “Anthony” Fokker. The photo (click main pic) was probably taken in Germany as Anthony Fokker had its factories there from 1912 until 1919, so we have a feeling that the car could be a Mercedes. Can you help us identify it?
