The very last Calthorpe Super Sports?

It's true, racing improves the breed. Like many other companies the British make Calthorpe did just that. Before World War I they had already made a name for themselves in racing. After hostilities had ended Calthorpe modified some of the production models with higher performance engines. The bodies were made by Mulliners, whose premises were next-door. Lovely cars with only one problem: they cost more than double the price of contemporary rivals. As a consequence these so-called "Super Sports" models are quite rare. Probably only one example remains, the one to be offered by H&H Classics at their next auction on February 26th. True to its roots, this 1920 Calthorpe has been campaigned by its present owner at historic events for twenty years. We think it should be fun to drive and really like its combination of two-seater polished alloy body with red trim.
