This week no Monday Mystery, whereby we would like to know the make of the car. But something different for a change. Last week, someone spotted this pre-war truck, took some photographs and send them to us.
The accompanying text: “Perhaps something a little unusual. At a Bourse come Auction at St James in Normandie today (2nd April 2018) I saw this 1927 La Licorne farmers pick up truck for sale. I believe it to be a 5CV 905cc model. I could not find the seller anywhere to ask for further details, so he obviously was not too serious about finding a buyer. So this sort of thing is still being found in barns!”
Thank you for sharing Tony!
But what have you spotted this weekend? Please comment below and tell us what treasure you have found this weekend and where.
Photographs by Tony Hillyard.
The car reminds me of my La Licorne L760 from 1933 which spent approximately 60 years in the private collection of a French gentleman. After his death, the cars in the collection were auctioned and my La Licorne eventually found its way to Germany, still with the original paint and interior. It's got even the Michelin tyres from the 1930s or 1950s which need to be inflated from time to time.
The car is complete with only the knob of one of the rear window crank handles missing. The engine is running, and the mechanics just need a general overhaul. I'll never "restore" this beautiful machine, but keep it in it's unique "timewarp" condition.
