Three British thorough breds

April 27th, 2002

Sadly a dear friend and Alvis Aficionado Ron Buck past away.

I wish to dedicate the following extract from the Alvis Owners Club Bulletin No 466 to Ron and of his input to FEV 355.

Dear Julian.

On Monday the 31st August 1999, at 8:00 hours precisely, with a blast on the whistle, The Flying Scotsman announced her departure from St Pancras Station London an that the race had begun.

Hearing the whistle, Alan in his Alvis 4.3 and Ron in his Alvis Speed Twenty Five took up the challenge. Some hours later arriving at Wavertree Station, Edinburgh, the two thoroughbreds just piped The Flying Scotsman by a short whisker.

Yours sincerely Alan Wildin
